One Life Building the Future

I remember graduating from college, already accepted into my graduate program and having doubts about my choice.

While it should’ve been enough to raise my eyebrows, the situation was much more critical when you consider that I had spent three years in a graduate program and incurred loads of expenses along with it. And then, to graduate, go to work in my field and before turning my 1-year anniversary at my job, quit because I realized that I couldn’t stand working in the field I had selected.

In many ways, I always thought that I was just that “dumb” or lacking direction and clarity, and that there was no way of fixing what had already been done so I had to just “suck it up” and keep treading and/or just coping with the consequences of my “bad” choices.

I do remember thinking, many years later, that all of that self-deprecating thinking had to be wrong only because I was discovering things I was really good at and was enjoying great recognition and success in areas I never thought I would be working on. I actually became unbelievably passionate about the work I was doing and could not believe “my luck”.

The more I thought about how traumatic that experience of not having direction and clarity in life had been, the more I started looking around and thinking that I genuinely wished others didn’t have to live through what I went through. And then, unexpectedly (if there is such a thing), articles and studies made their way to me in which I discovered that the alarming majority of people do indeed go through similar situations as the one I went through.

It was then that I decided I needed to do something about it and this is when The Passionate Future Project was born. True, it took about two and a half years from conception to reality – but when you’re as serious as we are about helping people, it is certainly time well spent.

From its inception, we wanted to design a program that would work and leave a positive mark on those that participated in it. This meant unending hours invested in everything from conducting extensive research, designing an effective curriculum that took into consideration the particulars of each individual participant, to having experts in the fields of education and counseling review the work in progress at different stages, until finally it was strong enough to be tested. The program was then run with three pilot groups to ensure that it worked the way it was designed to work – and the results have far exceeded even my own expectations.

This is the journey of The Passionate Future Project, a program created to help people find their passions, achieve better clarity and direction in life and in doing so, guide them into a much more successful life than they ever dreamed they could achieve. Now, the work ahead of us is about the future of this program and all that it may be able to do for so many of us (youth and adults).

This is the story of passionate drive and dedication. This is the first example of what this program does. This, we are convinced, is the future of education.
